With the way technology is today, file sharing is something that is extremely popular. P2P sharing stands for peer to peer sharing. It is used when people want to share digital files with other people or "peers". Today, enormous amounts of files rare being transferred on a daily basis. A few examples of files that are often shared are things like movies, songs, computer programs. People are always trying to share these files free, which is often illegal. There are many sites that have come and gone that were involved in P2P, but have had copyright issues. Sites like Napster, Limewire, Ares are few of the music sites who shared files illegaly. In a New York Times article entitled "Digital Pirates Winning Battle with Studios" they talk about illegal file sharing that has had an impact on the movie industry. They talk about a case that has to do with the distribution of illegal copies of the Batman movie that has been downloaded more than seven million times around the word. This is just an example of the many illegal file sharing issues that are going on today. P2P sharing has changed the way we receive and share files and it will continue to grow with the continuous advances in new media and technology.
